Video Game/DLC Reviews
Hello, Mario! + Hello, Yoshi! (My Mario Review)
This is a great game to play when you just need something to do. The game is very short and fun. You get to play as Mario or Yoshi and interact with them. You use objects from the Mario Universe to change things about your character. After playing for so long, the game will end. This is great, so that kids don't play a game for too long and remember to take breaks. I found the Yoshi version to be more enjoyable, because you have more options, such as his color. Yoshi can also grab items as well. The Mario version reminds me of Super Mario 64. I think it's a pretty good game, even for people who don't like Mario. The console version of both has a few extra options as well. I would give it a 9/10.
Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 (Review)
This collection is amazing! This was my first time playing both Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. While I found Galaxy 1 to be more fun, both are good. The game looks increadible and I like the new menu screens. The game utilizes the motion control mechanic from the Wii for the Switch. I only encountered a few glitches, but not many. I don't think it was worth the price tag, but it is enjoyable. The graphics look good for the most part. Galaxy 2 looks a little better than the first game. I do think it is worth trying, though. I bought this before watching the new movie, and it helped me understand more about the film. I like having options to choose from, like classic mode. Having the opportunity to change controls was very much welcomed. I do wish there were more extras, rather than just a menu to hear music. I also wish we got more skins, instead of just Mario and Luigi. I would give this colection an 7/10.
Sonic 06 (Amazon Review)
I know a lot of people don't like this game. I personally like it. Well, for the most part. There are definitely a good bit of glitches and some confusing moments. I do think the glitches made it more fun to play. The voice lines are pretty good at times. I love having multiple playable characters as well. Now, I ordered this on Amazon, and it came in really good shape. I only found a couple of scratches on the case. Everything else was fine, and it even came with the manual. I played the game a few times, but I never revisited it ever again. I would give it a 6/10.
Sonic Rumble (Review)
This game is a fun and chaotic mess. One minute you are playing Fall Guys, and then the game suddenly crashes. Sonic Rumble definitely didn't leave a good impression on the fans. Delaying a game almost 4 times is too much. I understand one delay, but 4 is insane. The game was developed by the people who made Angry Birds, so I wasn't surprised by the microtransactions. Unfortunately, prices can range from about $5 to $100. Not a great first impression for a mobile game. It is very similar to Fall Guys, but has enough content to make it more Sonic. The animation is really good, but the frame rate is a different story. I have seen people complain about this a lot after release, and that's because you have to go to the settings and fix the graphics quality yourself so that your game doesn't crash. Not sure why that wasn't changed by default. At least they tell you the recommended settings. A positive note for this game is that there are no forced ads. When I tell you I have had no ads interrupting my gameplay, I am serious. The adds are optional and help you gain awards faster. The game is very addictive and fun. There is a shop to buy items using in-game currency instead of real money. Honestly, after you find the right settings and learn how to play the game, it truly can be just as good as Fall Guys. I would give this game an 8/10.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds (Review)
This game is what you would expect from a kart-racer. It doesn't change anything about the genre, and that's what makes it amazing! It is extremely replayable and includes multiple race modes. The new idea SEGA has brought to the table is the travel ring. If you get annoyed by playing the same levels over and over, then the travel ring will fix that. Every race is different because the travel ring can be random, and your 2nd lap will take you to a whole new track to change things up. The multiplayer is also chaotic fun, but it can be a little bit delayed and laggy at times. Other than that, the online modes and everything else are great. There are new events very often, and it keeps the player engaged. I would recommend this to any fans of the racing genre. I would give this game a 9/10.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble (Review)
This game is very fun to play and the levels get more difficult as the game goes on. The game is one of the best in the entire series. I would not be surprised if we get another Super Monkey Ball game in a few years. Sega took some inspiration from Sonic The Hedgehog. For example, the spin dash. The game offers a variety of DLC options. I enjoyed the last Super Monkey Ball game, but I wish they kept the jump button from one of the other games. I still had a lot of fun and the game was very challenging at times. I am going to give it a 9/10.
Sonic 3 in Sonic X Shadow Generations (DLC Review)
The new content added to Sonic X Shadow Generations is amazing. I played this DLC after I saw Sonic 3 and had very high expectations for it. I am happy to say that the DLC was very fun to play. I do wish we had more levels and characters though. Overall the extra content was very good. I do believe that they should have added more content to the game. I am going to give it an 9/10.
Sonic Mania Plus (Netflix Review)
Who would have thought Netflix would be the first to port Sonic Mania Plus to mobile? I have only encountered a few issues, but nothing major. It plays just like it would on any other platform. The menu is not as good as it was in the original game though. The game is very good. I am going to give it a 7/10.
Mario Vs Donky Kong (2024 Review)
I love this Mario game. This is one of the best Nintendo games I have ever played. While it is a remaster, I still found it very enjoyable to play with better graphics. The more levels you complete the harder the game gets. Sometimes the game can get too difficult too fast though. I did not have very many problems playing this game. The cutscenes looked amazing as well. You can even play with up to (2 different players). I will probably play the game again shortly. I am going to give it an 8/10.
Sonic X Shadow Generations (Review)
Sonic X Shadow Generations includes a remaster of a game made back in 2011 and a brand new story campaign featuring Shadow The Hedgehog. The remaster does a really good job of bringing a beloved title to a new Generation. The game runs perfectly on every console and I encountered only a few problems. The game has some glitches but it is very difficult to notice. The new dialogue for Sonic Generations is still really good at times and the game runs fine on my console. The only problem I have is that the drop dash and new dialogue felt unnecessary. The other game included in this package is Shadow Generations. Shadows gameplay is super fun and the levels are designed similarly to Sonic Generations. Shadow's new powers are a cool concept too. Shadow Generations has an open world to explore and it is very similar to Sonic Frontiers. The gameplay has improved a lot since Frontiers and I hope that Sonic games get even better as the years go on. The stories of Sonic and Shadow Generations are both really good and enjoyable. I am going to give it a 9/10.
